PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head and a rotary magnetic head device wherein magnetic field can be prevented from leaking from end parts of a magnetic gap and an uncertain signal recording area of the magnetic gap end parts can be reduced. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 10 consisting of a pair of magnetic core half bodies 11, 12 with a magnetic gap formed between the butted faces of the magnetic core half bodies 11, 12 and recording and reproducing information in a magnetic information recording medium on a tape, comprises a substrate of a magnetic material, a 1st magnetic film formed on a magnetic material onto the abutted faces of the substrate and generating a magnetic field in the magnetic gap, and a 2nd magnetic film 23 which is deposited extending over a pair of the magnetic core half bodies 11, 12 at least on either of both magnetic gap ends on the 1st magnetic film and confines a magnetic field generated from the magnetic gap end (s) within the side of the 1st magnetic film.
