ELECTRIC-DOUBLE-LAYER CAPACITORS AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a second dimension limiting structure of a capacitor assembling body comprising unit electric-double-layer capacitors to withstand its expansive pressure when applying a voltage to it, by charging initially the capacitor assembling body through a voltage not lower than its rated voltage in the state of attaching to it a first dimension limiting structure, and by holding it thereafter in the second dimension limiting structure whose withstanding pressure is smaller than the one of the first dimension limiting structure. SOLUTION: Connecting conductively in serial-parallel with each other unit electric-double- layer capacitors 1 and providing end plates 2 on both their sides, they are pressed against each other by a belt 3 of a second dimension limiting structure capable of fixing by their expansive pressures generated in the state of using the unit capacitors 1 to create a capacitor assembling body 4. Then, mounting a first dimension limiting structure 5 on the capacitor assembling body 4, a voltage not lower than the rated voltage of the capacitor assembling body 4 is applied to it from a charging and discharging apparatus 6 to activate it by the expansion of its carbonic material. Next, discharging the capacitor assembling body 4 after its charging is completed, the first dimension limiting structure 5 is removed from it in the state of its expansive pressure being reduced to a value not larger than the applied pressure to it by fixing the belt 3 to hold the capacitor assembling body 4 only by the second dimension limiting structure.
