PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a correction effect of a vertical correlation error by performing the correction of the vertical correlation error according to a coloring level for each signal using a coloring level signal of the vertical correlation error to be caused when an image of an object having no correlation between two pixels is picked up. SOLUTION: The coloring level of the vertical correlation error is detected from input signals 11a to 11c of R, G, B and the coloring level signal 13 is outputted by a vertical correlation error detecting part 12. The vertical correlation error is corrected by performing arithmetic operation for each of the signals R, G, B with signals of the present pixel and the adjacent pixels according to a value of the coloring level signal 13 by a vertical correlation error correcting part 14. In this case, the coloring level of the vertical correlation error to be caused when the image of the object having no correlation between two pixels is picked up is detected by simultaneously and independently reading two pixels which are arranged in different spatial positions in the upper and lower directions and performing a signal processing by making electrical phases the same and the correction of the vertical correlation error according to the coloring level is performed for each of the signals R, G, B using the coloring level signal.
