The laptop sized communication unit has a book type format that opens to present a pair of display screens (13,15) that are synchronized. One of the screens is a touch screen that is used together with a probe (19) that is stored in the spine, when not in use. The outer surface of one of the halves has a built in small display for such as e mail messages.
