FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITION AND FLAME-RETARDANT RESIN COMPOSITION

A flame retardant composition characterized by comprising a melamine salt of nitrilotris(methylene)-phosphonic acid represented by general formula (1) and a hydrated metal compound (wherein M represents melamine and n is an integer of 1 to 6). The composition is reduced in fuming, emits no irritating odor, and can impart excellent flame retardancy to various resins without impairing the mechanical properties inherent therein.
