An apparatus for cleaning and conditioning a felt is an improvement or modification of the apparatus of claim 1 of the main patent, at least one of the freely rotatable elements being perforate and enclosing a spray device adapted to be connected to a supply of contaminant-removing fluid. Each spray device may be a fixed tubular spindle extending axially through the element, the longitudinal axis of the spindle coinciding with that of the element, one end of the spindle being blanked off, and the other connected to the supply of fluid, at least one slit being formed in the spindle, the slit extending axially of the spindle but radially directed at those portions of the element which would at any instant contact the felt. The blanked off end may alternatively be open, and allow passage of fluid into the inlet of another spray device. The perforations of the spray devices are preferably formed in the rib or thread. |
