1,114,649. Stud and socket fastenings. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. 5 Dec., 1966 [7 Jan., 1966], No. 54429/66. Heading E2B. A socket member 6 with an apertured base 10 is attachable to a piece of fabric 7 by a member having a head 8 and a post 9 the end of which is of reduced diameter and sharply stepped from the remainder, the reduced diameter being slightly greater than the diameter of the aperture in the base, so that as the post is forced through the fabric into the aperture it shears the fabric. The end of the post is then turned over within the socket. Alternatively a stud member which is integral with the post is attached to the fabric by an apertured, flat member of ring shape. The members may be made of thermoplastics material. |
