The invention relates to a strip deflection roller, especially a tension measuring roller or looper roller, for matching the tension in the rolling stock between two roll stands for the hot rolling and cold rolling of strips. According to the invention, the strip deflection roller (3) is comprised of at least five adjacent discs (8) which are mounted on a common eccentric shaft (4) such that they can freely rotate in an independent manner. A maximum of two of said discs (8) are mounted concentrically with regard to the rotational axis of the eccentric shaft (4), and the heights of the remaining discs (8) can be varied to influence the strip profile and to regulate the flatness of the strip (B), said strip being guided over the strip deflection roller (3), by turning the eccentric shaft (4).
