The system for electric arc welding is designed so that the contacting point for the feedback to regulating units of the welding system is produced in the vicinity for the contact point between the welding wire and the contact tube of the torch, and across suitable means the potential of the measuring point produced there is extracted as an effective feedback signal for regulation purposes of the electric characteristic values of the welding source or of the wire feed of the welding system.
