The invention relates to a method for the synthesis of biostatin (TT 232) using solid phase synthesis in a polymeric support by gradually forming a peptide using amino acids derived with protecting groups, wherein the protecting groups are cleaved and the peptide is separated from the solid phase, wherein the disulfide bridge is closed by oxidation of the totally or partially formed peptide in the presence of an adequate solvent while the peptide is still bonded in the solid phase.
