Urethane (meth)acrylates containing siloxane groups, are new. Urethane (meth)acrylates (I) contain siloxane groups, which are polymerizable by free radicals, and which are made up from: (a) compounds containing active H atoms, and alpha , beta -ethylenic double bonds which are polymerizable by free radicals; (b) diisocanates; (c) compounds containing two active H atoms; (d) compounds containing active H atoms and siloxane groups; and optionally (e) compounds containing two or more active H atoms and ionogenic and/or ionic groups; (f) monovalent alcohols, primary or secondary amines and/or monoisocyanates; and/or (g) compounds containing alpha , beta -ethylenic double bonds and substituted with isocyanate groups. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) the production of (I) containing urea groups; (2) water-soluble and water-dispersible polymers comprising (I) co-polymerized with alpha , beta -ethylenically unsaturated monomer (M) which is polymerizable by free radicals; and (3) cosmetic and pharmaceutical agents containing the polymer of (2).
