The device provides a required relative spacing between the end of a dosing needle (4) of an adhesive dispenser cartridge (K) and the surface of a circuit board (LP), using a sensor (S) to detect the relative movement of the dispenser cartridge needle and a reference element (P), with a display provided upon contact between the dosing needle and the circuit board surface. An Independent claim is also included for a spacing method.
