It consists of a tubular structure 1 secured to the leg and to the foot of the person by the straps 5, 6. Connected to the inner upper part of the tubular structure 1 there is a valve 2 which opens downwards with a spring 3 which keeps it closed when the system is at rest. The valve 2 abuts against an inner edge 4 made perpendicularly to the propulsion device for swimming. When the propulsion device for swimming is propelled backwards, the inertia of the water trapped inside it gives rise to a forward thrust for the swimmer, on the basis of the principle of action/reaction of Newton's third law. During movement in the opposite direction, the valve 2 is opened by the water which passes freely through the propulsion device for swimming. It has industrial applications. Variants are anticipated which have a compound (gate valve) or which have securing elements adapted for an oar or for a human arm and hand. <IMAGE>
