1287442 Releasable fastenings WINGARD Ltd 12 May 1970 [29 May 1969] 27257/69 Heading E2A A seat belt has a lap and diagonal belt slotted through a tongue part 14 of a two-part buckle, the other buckle part being pivotally mounted on a seat frame by a clip 38 and connected to a stationary floor anchorage by a rigid stay of adjustable length. The stay comprises a bar 27 slidable in a sleeve 25, ratchet teeth 28 on bar 27 being engageable by a spring-loaded pawl 32 on sleeve 25. When part 14 is inserted to fasten the buckle, its head 16 pushes down a coil spring 37 of a transmission member 36, the other end of which has a coil 35 which also moves down to permit spring 34 to urge pawl 32 into engagement with teeth 28. On release of the buckle, coil 35 is moved upwards due to expansion of spring 37, the pawl being thus disengaged from teeth 28. |
