PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a molten metal-corrosion resistant film forming material excellent in molten metal-corrosion resistance, wear resistance and impact resistance, and to provide a method for forming a film by which the improvement of productivity, operability, safety and maintainability can be attained. SOLUTION: On the surface of stock steel, a metal contg. one or more kinds among aluminum, iron, nickel, cobalt, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten and titanium is deposited to have a thickness of >=30μm by atmospheric spray coating, low pressure spray coating or plating, which is thereafter subjected to heating treatment at 350 to 1100 deg.C for 3 to 24 hr in a gas compsn. controlling atmosphere contg. at least one kind among ammonium chloride, ammonia, nitrogen, argon and hydrogen to diffusely bond the spray-coated film components to the base material and to form an alloy layer contg. one or more kinds among aluminum, iron, nickel, cobalt, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten and titanium, and, furthermore, the ally layer is subjected to heating treatment at 400 to 800 deg.C for 3 to 15 hr in a gas compsn. atmosphere contg. one or more kinds of ammonia and nitrogen to form a composite alloy layer contg. nitride in the alloy layer.
