PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating composition not containing a compound in which harmfulness to human body is worried without lowering barrier property to gas such as oxygen or steam and useful for packaging uses, etc. of medicines, etc. by including a specific organosilane, etc. as a main component. SOLUTION: This coating composition consists mainly of (A) at least one kind of compound among an organosilane of the formula, R1nSi(OR2)4-n [R1 is a 1-8C organic group; R2 is a 1-5C alkyl or the like; and (n) is 0-2], a hydrolysate of the above silane and silane condensate, and (B) a silyl group- containing fluorine-based polymr having at least one silyl group having silicon atom bonded to hydrolyzable group and/or hydroxy group in one molecule of the polymer. Furthermore, the coating composition preferably further contains (C) an organopolysiloxane of the formula [R3 to R8 are each a 1-8C organic group; (m) is >=1; weight average molecular weight expressed in terms of polystyrene is 150-10,000; and SiO bond is straight-chain-like and/or branch-like bond].
