PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge-composting device capable of preventing the contact of a fermentation tank with outer air to reduce the quantity of released heat. SOLUTION: This device for composting sludge is obtained by disposing an outer cylinder 34 on the outside of a fermentation tank 12 to form a heat- insulating space 35 therebetween, and further forming a circulation route for guiding the fermentation gas from the fermentation tank 12 to the heat- insulating space 35. The fermentation tank 12 can receiving dehydrated sludge from a hopper 14, and is used for composting the dehydrated sludge 16 with aerobic microorganisms. The device 10 for composting the sludge can prevent the direct contact of the fermentation tank 12 with outer air, and the sludge in the fermentation tank 12 are thereby scarcely affected by the outer air. Thus, the device 10 enables the maintenance a sludge temperature at 65 deg.C for a long time, the shortage of the time required for heating with heaters, and the reduction in a running cost.
