PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a band fastening element for an electric light pole band or a packing band, for example, in particular a band fastening element using a ratchet claw wheel in which the band can be taken up to wind in a superior and stable state without damaging an outer tube form while the ratchet claw wheel is being exposed or without winding of the band around the ratchet claw wheel or without being zig-zag formed. SOLUTION: A band fastening element is comprised of a main body 1 of a fastener formed into a substantial U-shape section, a band winding shaft 2 rotatably inserted and held in axial insertion holes 11 formed at opposing pieces 1a, 1a of the main body 1 of the fastening element, a ratchet claw wheel 22 integrally rotated with the band taking up shaft 2, and a rotation preventing and engaging means 4 engaged with the ratchet claw wheel 22 to prevent a rotation directed to a direction opposite the taking-up direction of the taking-up shaft 2. The ratchet claw wheel 22 is integrally formed with the band taking-up shaft 2 and at the same time the ratchet claw wheel 22 is stored and arranged in the insertion holes 11.
