PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromotive fishing reel capable of preventing its backlash even though simply structured, lightweight and compact, and good in maintenance. SOLUTION: This electromotive fishing reel comprises: a detecting means 90 for detecting the speed of rotation of a spool 8 when the spool 8 freely rotates (or when a fishline feeding mechanism operates during the free rotation of the spool 8); a memory means for memorizing a predetermined value set for the ideal speed of rotation of the spool 8; and a control means able to counter-rotate the motor and thereby provide the spool 8 with a rotation resistance when a detected datum (speed of rotation of the spool 8) exceeds the predetermined value in comparison therebetween, wherein the detecting means 90 comprises detection element 92 fixed to the side of the reel body 4 and a detection body 94 fixed to the side of the spool 8 and calculates the speed of rotation of the spool 8 by counting how many times the detection body 94 passes near the detection element 92 per unit time.
