PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a root stem crop harvest machine capable of adjusting the timing of a pulling action with a field-swelling and softening action in response to the root growth state of the crop due to the states of a field and the crop, because the relative position of the action-starting position of a pulling device to the action position of a digging blade is generally fixed in a conventional machine and further because a load added to the pulling device is sometimes changed to cause troubles on positions for nipping and cutting the foliage portion of the crop and on the carriage of the crop. SOLUTION: In this root stem crop harvest machine, a digging blade 8 is variably attached so that the action position of the digging blade 8 can longitudinally be adjusted on the basis of the action-starting position of a pulling device. The digging blade 8 is further attached in a state capable of longitudinally selecting the relative position of the digging blade 8 to the action-starting position of a pulling device 5 so that a stable pulling action can be carried out under the effective support of the field-swelling and softening action.
