PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the useful lifetime, and to improve the cutting efficiency by forming a grinding part at a constant width, intermittently forming a space along the longitudinal direction of a metal wire, and setting the width of the space between the grinding parts and the width of the grinding part within a specified range. SOLUTION: Since a metal wire 10 is formed with parts, in which a grinding part 20 is not formed, in case of changing the moving direction with a guide of a driving wheel, deformation due to pressure fatigue or deformation due to tensile fatigue is hard to be generated at a contact part of the driving wheel and the metal wire, in which the grinding part 20 is not formed, and since breakdown of the metal wire 10 and peeling and breakdown of the grinding part 20 are hard to be generated at a contact part of the driving wheel and the metal wire 10, useful lifetime is prolonged. In case of utilizing a wire saw having the grinding parts 20 so as to cut a material to be cut, since a space 21 having a width of 0.5 to 1.5 times of the width of the grinding part 20 is formed between each grinding part 20, chips generated at the time of cutting is discharged through the space 21, and the stay of the chips in a cut end of the material to be cut is prevented, and the cutting efficiency is improved. |
