PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a graphite product using a silicon carbide-carbon composite material coated with boron nitride, having a coating surface excellent in lubricity and abrasion resistance and enabling the omission of a mechanical processing by forming a silicon carbide raw material-carbon composite layer on a graphite substrate, forming a boron carbide-silicon carbide-carbon composite layer on the surface of the formed silicon carbide raw material- carbon composite layer and further covering the surface of the formed boron carbide-silicon carbide-carbon composite layer with a layer containing boron nitride. SOLUTION: A silicon carbide-carbon composite layer is uniformly formed in a thickness of >=1 mm in the depth direction from the surface of a graphite substrate. A 10-15μm thick antioxidative boron carbide-silicon carbide-carbon composite layer is formed on the surface of the formed silicon carbide-carbon composite layer. The formed antioxidative boron carbide- silicon carbide-carbon composite layer is covered with a 3-20μm boron nitride-containing layer, which is preferably a composite layer together with glassy carbon. Thus, the outermost layer portion, the second layer portion and the third layer portion are formed from the BN-C composite layer having a dense smooth surface, the B4C-SiC-C composite layer, and the SiC-C composite layer having an approximately uniform thickness in the depth direction, respectively. Since the second layer has a rough surface, the BN-C composite layer of outermost layer portion receives an anchor effect action and is strongly adhered.
