PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition having selective phosphodiesterase IV-inhibiting activities, excellent bronchoconstriction-inhibiting activities and/or respiratory tract inflammatory-inhibiting activities, and useful as antiasthmatic medicine by using a specific pyridine derivative as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition contains a pyridine derivative of formula I [A is a group of formula II (R1 and R2 are each H or hydroxy; R31 is hydroxymethyl or the like) or the like], preferably 4-[(3S)-3,4-dihydro-3- hydroxymethyl-6,7-dimethoxyisoquinolin-1-yl]-2-[4-(3-pyridyl)phthalazi n-1(2H)-on-2- yl]pyridine or the like, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The pyridine derivative can be orally or parenterally administered (e.g. intravenous administration), and can be used as a tablet, a granule, a capsule or the like. The daily dose of the pyridine derivative is preferably 0.003-3 mg/kg.
