PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To comply with various kinds of steel sheet piles with different widths in a self-propelling device arranged on an existing pile and self-travelling on a sheet pile wall constructed of steel sheet piles. SOLUTION: A self-propelling device is provided with a saddle 3 provided with first clamps 1, 2 arranged on the lower side for gripping an existing pile P and a sliding unit 4 freely movable in the longitudinal direction and freely rotational in the lateral direction relative to the saddle 3. This self-propelling device is also provided with a second clamp 6 arranged below an elevation part 5 rotationally in the lateral direction for gripping the existing pile P. A crane device 7 is provided above the sliding unit 4. A longitudinal distance between the first clamps 1, 2 is substantially equal to a maximum distance allowing the clamps to grip the adjacent two steel sheet piles P. A lateral movement distance of the first clamps 1, 2 is set to be above a lateral distance between the leftward protruded parts and the rightward protruded parts of the steel sheet piles P continuously stood in a corrugated shape in a plane vision.
