PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic binding apparatus capable of preventing a binding wire from catching on rollers when the binding wire runs in a guide groove and when it is pulled out from the guide groove, even in the case where a flap is provided in the form of a roller type. SOLUTION: By constituting a bottom face of a guide groove 75 in the form of continuous surfaces of many spheres 99, frictional resistance in the guide groove 75 can be reduced. Further, four to seven rollers 103, a half part of each roller extended in an axial direction being formed into the shape of a conically trapezoidal portion 103b, constitute one set, and each set of the rollers 103, which allow a flapable plate 105 to support them, is arranged side by side along the guide groove 75. These rollers 103 are used as a flap, and an angle of inclination, with respect to the guide groove 75, of the outer circumferential face of the foremost roller 103 positioned ahead in a direction in which a binding wire 5 is fed, among the rollers 103 in one set, is made larger than those, with respect to the guide groove 75, of the outer circumferential faces of other rollers 103 in the same set. Thus, the binding wire 5 runs stably and can be prevented from catching on the rollers 103.
