PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling method for a metallic mold for low pressure casting, for surely executing the directional solidification in the rim part of a wheel for vehicle, at the time of manufacturing the light alloy-made wheel for vehicle with a low pressure casting. SOLUTION: In the cooling method of a metallic mold for low pressure casting provided with a cavity for casting the wheel for vehicle having at least the rim part and a disk part in the inside at the outer flange side of the rim part, plural temp. sensors 1a, 1b, 1c, are set along the direction processing the directional solidification at the portion for forming the rim part in the metallic mold, and plural metallic mold cooling means 2a, 2b, 2c, are set at the outside of the portion for forming the rim part in the metallic mold. The values detected with each of the temp. sensors are mutually compared and based on this compared result, the metallic mold cooling means are selectively worked, and a feedback control is executed so that the detected temp. of the temp. sensor becomes low as the position is away from the disk part.
