PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical means for eliminating unpleasant gas (poisonous, noxious malodorous gas and steam) of high concentration from a floor and a wall. SOLUTION: The whole surfaces or a part of a floor 5, a wall 6, furniture 4, and the like emitting unpleasant gas are covered with mats 2 containing an adsorbent 1 to eliminate unpleasant gas. Emission of unpleasant gas is effectively prevented because of covering the emission source of unpleasant gas to adsorb it. Unpleasant gas from parts uncovered with the mat 2 can also be adsorbed by a large spread plane. Power is not needed, nor is the action of a person impeded. The mats 2 can be concealed with a carpet 3, furniture 4, and the like, or the mat 2 can be decorated. A flexible foam body or fibrous adsorbent is used to prevent the adsorbent from being powdered to soil the floor and the like. The mat can be repeatedly used being regenerated by ventilation under heating and decompression. The emitted unpleasant gas can be economically coped with over a long period of time by periodical replacement with the regenerated mat.
