1. The method of sealing the rod of a reciprocating piston, especially in the Stirling engine, consists of using a gland equipped with sealing and skimming rings and a cooling system. Unique characteristics: The un-skimmed oil remaining on the rod (2) is absorbed by the oil-absorbing agent (6) surrounding the rod and located inside the body of the gland (1). The unabsorbed particles of oil remaining on the rod are heated with the heat emitter (13) in the gland to the boiling point and evaporated. Then, the oil vapours are cooled down and condensed, and the condensed oil is carried outside the gland. 2. The device for sealing the rod of a reciprocating piston, especially in the Stirling engine, consists of a gland equipped with sealing and skimming rings and a cooling system. Unique characteristics: The gland (1) contains the ring (6) made of oil-absorbing material, mounted on the rod (2). Above the ring, there is as ring-shaped chamber (11) surrounding the rod (2), preferably with streamlined internal surface. The chamber side adjacent to the rod is open. The chamber contains the heat emitter (13), designed to emit heat energy to the circumferential surface of the rod (2). The chamber (11) is connected to the duct (15), which carries condensed oil outside the gland. |
