PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably keep the constant ventilation of held cages independently of the removal or connection of a part of the other cages. SOLUTION: A rack 2 holding plural cages 1 is provided with plural rack-side ventilation ports 16 separately connected with each cage 1 to perform the ventilation of the cage and a common ventilation channel 17 for air-feeding and exhaustion to these rack-side ventilation ports 16. Each of the rack-side ventilation openings 16 is provided with a valve 28 opening by the connection of the cage and closing according to the removal of the cage. In an animal breeding apparatus having the above construction, each of the rack-side ventilation ports 16 is provided with a narrow ventilation channel 29 to partially allow ventilation of the rack-side ventilation port 16 in restricted ventilation rate when the corresponding valve 28 is in closed state.
