PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inexpensive and neutral agent maintaining high safety, the advantageous point of an inorganic microbicide, having an excellent antifungal property not inferior to an excellent antibacterial property, and useful for the antifungal and antibacterial treatments of drinking water, etc., by adding a specific amorphous synthetic aluminum silicate compound as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This antifungal bactericide contains an amorphous synthetic aluminum silicate compound of the formula: Mxm+Omx/2.Al2O3.nSiO2.aH2O [Mm+ is Ag+, Cu2+ or Zn2+; 0<(x)<=2; 1<=(m)<=3; 4<(n)<15; 0<=(a)] as an active ingredient. The agent is preferably granulated into spherical granules having a minor diameter of about >=1 mm, etc. The agent is preferably obtained by reacting water glass with a water-soluble aluminum salt at pH 3-7 under stirring, filtering the obtained precipitates, washing the obtained synthetic aluminum silicate with water, adding one or more kinds of water-soluble metal salts, such as an Ag+ salt, to the aqueous dispersion of the synthetic aluminum silicate to subject the synthetic aluminum silicate to an ion exchange reaction, and subsequently subjecting the reaction product to filtration, water-washing and drying treatments.
