PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sustain the quantity of ink of an ink drop at a constant level over a wide driving frequency range and to eject ink stably even in high driving frequency region. SOLUTION: When the ejection period of ink drop is long (I, II), an ink drop is ejected by applying a signal (1) for contracting the volume of a pressure generating chamber from a diaphragm part at he time of ejecting an ink drop. When the ejection period of ink drop is short (IV), an ink drop is ejected while reducing the volume of the pressure generating chamber by applying a signal (5) for expanding the volume of the pressure generating chamber from the diaphragm part.
