PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate mounting of a doctor blade onto a holder by forming the blade body of high strength band steel and preshaping it to be curved or bent in the breadthwise direction. SOLUTION: A blade body l4 is preshaped to be curved or bent in the breadthwise direction into U-shape, V-shape or W-shape before being cut and wound into a coil. Since a blade body 14 having a large secondary cross-sectional coefficient is obtained when the coiled doctor blade is fed out and cut into a specified length, longitudinal curve of the blade body 14 is corrected and recovered to a substantially straight state. Consequently, it can be handled as a straight blade body when it is mounted on a doctor holder and mountability can be enhanced.
