PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the hollow metal material and its production capable of efficiently producing at a low cost and easily forming a hollow part in a high precision, a large cross sectional area ratio and various cross sectional shapes. SOLUTION: The hollow metal material has a prescribed cross sectional shape, which is arranged with respectively projecting parts 3 and recessed parts 4, and is composed of plural special shape cross section materials 2 of metal, which are laminated by joining the projecting parts 3 each other so as to demarcate hollow parts 5 with the recessed parts 4. Further, in the producing method of the hollow metal material, plural special shape cross sectional plates of metal, which respectively have prescribed cross sectional shapes arranged with the projecting parts 3 and the recessed parts 4 continuously extending in the longitudinal direction, are prepared, these special shape cross sectional plates are laminated at the state the projecting parts 3 are brought into contact each other so as to demarcate the hollow parts with the recessed parts 4, the projecting parts in contact each other of the laminated special shape cross section plates are joined, and the joined special shape cross sectional plates are cut to a prescribed dimension.
