PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of unusual noise generated between a friction pad and paper during paper separating and feeding operations without degrading the separating condition preset at the time of designing a device. SOLUTION: To part of the contact surface side of a friction pad 4 with a paper feeding roller 2, a thin film 10 is affixed which is formed out of a material such as a PET resin with smaller coefficient of friction than that of the material of the friction pad 4. It is thus possible to prevent stick-slip occurring between the paper and the friction pad 4 during paper separating and feeding operations without degrading a separating function which the friction pad 4 has in itself, thereby resolving a problem such as occurrence of unusual noise caused by the stick-slip.
