PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high average motive power during an operation at three mechanical points. SOLUTION: A controller 76 exchanges power mutually between an energy storing means 74 and first and second motors/generators 56 and 71. A transmission 10 is provided with three planetary gear sets 24, 26 and 28 aligned in a manner coaxial to the first and second motors/generators. Each planetary gear device is provided with first and second gear members 30 and 32 engaged with a plurality of planetary gears 34, 42 and 50. The gear member of the first or second planetary gear set is connected to the first motor/generator, and the other gear member is connected to the second motor/generator. One of the gear members of a planetary gear subset is continuously connected to one of the gear members of a third planetary gear subset, the other gear member is operatively connected to an input member, and one gear member 46 of the third planetary gear subset is selectively connected to a ground 68. |
