PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition producing excellent flatness of the surface in a packaging container and affording an impression of opening a new container each time by including a specific medium thickened with an associating polyurethane. SOLUTION: This composition is such one as to include a physilogically permissible medium thickened with an associating polyurethane wherein this medium comprises an aqueous phase and liquid lipid phase in the form of an emulsion. This composition has at least 5 mg of the associating polyurethane per m2 of the surface area of oil in water, and the polyurethane content is pref. 2-20 wt.%, based on the total weight of the composition. The associating polyurethane is a triblock polymer or the like. The aqueos phase can include a medium containing especially, e.g. a polyol. As the liquid lipid phase, vegetable oil, animal oil, hydrocarbon, silicone or the like is pref. used. This composition can be used for makeup, treatment and the like.
