PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw-down device for rolling mills with which rolling reduction is adjusted easily rapidly accurately and which is manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the screw-down devices 10, 11 for rolling mills in which both end parts of upper and lower horizontal rolls 17 are pivotally supported freely rotatably on the upper and lower horizontal roll chocks 18 which are arranged inside a housing and the upper horizontal roll 17 is vertically movable with actuators 15 for screwing down through upper roll chocks 18, wedge mechanisms 24 which are movable forward and backward in the horizontal direction are provided between the lower end parts of the actuators 15 for screwing down and the upper horizontal roll chocks 18 and, by the vertical movement of the actuators 15 for screwing down and the movement forward and backward of the wedge mechanisms 24, the upper horizontal roll 17 is movable in the vertical direction.
