PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a heat insulating container repeatedly and provide the container with heat retaining properties, heat insulating properties and lightweight properties combinedly. SOLUTION: A foaming resin section 4 is formed in a main body 2 of a heat insulating container 1, and the outer section of the main body 2 is covered with surface sections 5 and 6 formed of a non-foaming solid resin material, reinforced glass or ceramic, and the thickness of the foaming resin material section 4 is thicker than the thickness of the surface sections 5 and 6. Out of the surface sections 5 and 6, at least the inner surface 5 forming the inner side of the main body 2 is preferably formed of a material from which no environmental hormone elutes. As a solid resin material, a resin sheet composed of polyethyelene terephthalate or polypropylene is used, and the foaming resin section 4 is preferably formed into a resin section composed of propylene or polyethylene foaming resin and provided with the expansion ratio of 15-25 times. Also a heat retaining cover 3 lighter in weight than the main body 2 can be installed on the main body 2.
