PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generator using an easy-to-produce anode and not generation such harmful by-products as chlorine even when brine such as seawater not desalted or purified is supplied and electrolyzed. SOLUTION: An anode 1 and a cathode 2 are connected to an external circuit 21 having a power source. A brine chamber 7 is formed in a space between the anode 1 and cathode 2. A cation-exchange membrane 3 is set between the anode 1 and brine chamber 7, and an anion-exchange membrane 4 is set between the cathode 2 and brine chamber 7. An anode compartment 5 is formed on the opposite side of the cation-exchange membrane 3 across the anode 1, and a cathode compartment 6 is formed on the opposite side of the anion-exchange membrane 4 across the cathode 2. A solid high molecular electrolyte for electrolyzing pure water such as a platinum-plated titanium fiber sintered body with a catalyst fed of iridium dioxide, or the like, formed thereon is used as it is as the anode 1. |
