PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high NOx removing activity within a wide temperature range from a low temperature to a high temperature by a method wherein copper or copper and cerium metallic constituents are supported on zeolite, and then a manganese metallic constituent is supported by a metal vapor deposition method. SOLUTION: Copper or copper and cerium metallic constituents are supported on zeolite. As a method for supporting the metallic constituent on zeolite, an ion exchange method, and a dipping method are used. For an order in supporting copper and cerium, either may come first and further thay may be simultaneously executed. For the zeolite on which copper and cerium metallic constituents are supported, after drying and firing, a manganese metallic constituent is supported thereon by a metal vapor deposition method, i.e., an ion film-making method. The metal vapor deposition method (the ion film-making method) is executed with a metal vapor deposition apparatus (an ion film-making apparatus). As the zeolite, β type zeolite is preferable. As a raw material of each metallic constituent, copper nitrate or the like for copper, cerium chloride or the like for cerium, and metallic manganese is respectively used for manganese. |
