PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint for road allowing a jointing work without causing warp or deformation on steel materials for constituting a cell and manufactureable at a low cost. SOLUTION: A bridge girder 1 is placed on an abutment 2 and a cell type expansion joint body 3 and a plate type steel material are provided. In this case, the cell type expansion joint body 3 has a plurality of cells 5 of steel materials jointed each other via joint members 6 so as to correspond to road breadth. Each joint member 6 is formed out of steel material 7a and 7b jointed to each other via a rubber resilient body 8 and as a bonding method, the steel materials 7a and 7b and the rubber resilient body 8 are vulcanization bonded, or bonded by use of a cold setting adhesive.
