PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the work for several stages easily understandable by constituting a screen for teaching, warning or condition announcing to a user relating to each of the prepn. of bobbin thread winding, the start of bobbin thread winding and the end of bobbin thread winding in bobbin thread winding functions in such a manner that these may be displayed by pictures and characters. SOLUTION: To execute bobbin thread winding, the user first sets a bobbin at a bobbin thread winding shaft and moves the bobbin to a set side by manipulating a bobbin thread winding lever. When the bobbin thread winding lever is located at the set side, the driving power of the drive shaft for driving a needle bar 5 is transmitted to the bobbin thread winding shaft. When the bobbin thread winding lever does not exist at the set side in a series of such work, a display section 11 is made to execute the display meeting the operating condition of a present sewing machine body 1. When the bobbin thread winding lever is positioned to the set side, this position is detected by a bobbin thread winding lever switch and whether the bobbin is set at the bobbin thread winding shaft or not is judged from the output of a bobbin set check switch. The result thereof is displayed on the display section 11.
