PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect an oblique movement of a paper sheet and to correct the oblique movement by means of a constitution, which is simple and excellent in maintainability, in a paper carrying device with a single feeding roller. SOLUTION: In a paper sheet carrying device provided with single paper sheet feeding rollers 4 facing to each other, whose direction of the axis of rotation is perpendicular to the carrying direction of the paper sheet, a paper sheet 3 mounted is carried by rotating the paper sheet feeding roller 4. The paper sheet carrying device is provided with paper sheet holding parts 5, which are juxtaposed in the direction of the axis of rotation, facing to each other, and which are capable of holding the paper sheet between the carrying roller 4 and themselves, and oblique movement detecting sensor 2, which is installed in a position corresponding and near to the respective right and left ends of the paper sheet being carried in order to detect the oblique movement of the paper sheet, and a moving means (an electromagnet 6, a spring 7, and a frame 8), which corrects the oblique movement of the paper sheet of the paper sheet by moving the paper sheet holding part 5 to either the direction in which the paper feeding roller 4 holds the paper sheet in between or the direction in which the roller 4 does not hold.
