PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent rapid increase of travelling resistance of a belt even if part of the belt comes into contact with a belt supporting material caused by insufficient air flow rate or pressure for floating the belt. SOLUTION: In this belt conveyer with a nearly gutter-shaped belt supporting material 7 is disposed in proximity to at least part of the lower travelling part of an endless belt 6 wound between a pair of pulleys. Air is blown off toward the belt 6 from an air blowing hole 20 perforated in the belt supporting material 7 to float the belt 6 from the belt supporting material 7 for travelling. Where, an ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene layer 21 is provided on at least part on the belt facing surface of the belt supporting material 7.
