A sheet tensioner insensitive to temperature changes for a bale plastic wrapping machine used in agriculture, in which the stretch rollers 1, 2, ... are connected to one another by a transmission unit 8, which determines the relative circumferential speed of the rollers, so that the circumferential speed of the roller situated lower downstream along the sheet path is at all times higher than the circumferential speed of the roller situated higher upstream, and in which the stretch roller 1 presses directly against the sheet reel 4, and in which the sheet reel 4, stretch roller 1 and stretch roller 2 have a reciprocal ratio such that the sheet is not folded double when it is drawn from the sheet reel 4 at high plastic wrapping temperatures. <IMAGE>
