PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-extinguishing resin composition having mechanical strengths suitable in the field of extrusion molding such as electric wire covers and pipes, injection molding such as electric appliance containers and electric wire connectors etc., having whitening resistance, scratch resistance, cold resistance, etc., in excellent balance, and having sufficient flame retardancy imparted thereto. SOLUTION: This self-extinguishing resin composition comprises the following components (A) to (E). The component A: 50-20 wt.% of an ethylene.α-olefin copolymer resin; the component B: 50-80 wt.% of the hydroxides of aluminum and/or magnesium, or a composition comprising the hydroxides and magnesium carbonate in an amount of <=30 wt.%; the component C: fine carbon powder in an amount of 0.05-20 pts.wt. per 100 wt.% of the total amount of the component A and B; the component D: a silicone compound having an average mol.wt. of 500-100,000 in an amount of 0.05-10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the components A and B, and the component E: an epoxy group-containing compound in an amount of 0. 001-3 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the components A and B. |
