The banking system includes a call answering system (3) belonging to the bank, which operates by (a) allowing a person dialling via e.g. a telephone (2) to initiate a connection to a call answering device, (b) requesting a number combination (e.g. pre-assigned pincode) from the person dialling in for use as identification, (c) assessing the validity of the identification information, (d) sending a confirmation signal to the e.g. telephone when the identification information is assessed as being valid, and (e) allowing a number of services offered by the call answering system to be activated, one of which is the transfer of money from a bank account to a smartcard (B). Once the transfer request has been executed, the call answering device activates a monetary system (3e) belonging to the bank, so that the requested amount is removed from the account and a number combination is generated for the transaction, which is then conveyed to the e.g. telephone by the device. |
