PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous ink composition having excellent dispersion stability, having a high concentration, hardly blotting, and having excellent water resistance and washing resistance, and used for ink jet recordings, by adding an amine oxide compound to an aqueous medium. SOLUTION: This aqueous ink composition is prepared by adding (B) an amine oxide compound having an alkylamide group or alkenylamide group, preferably a compound of the formula (R1 is a 3-24C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is a 1-5C alkylene; R3 and R4 are each a 1-3C alkyl) to (A) an aqueous medium comprising at least (i) water, (ii) a pigment and (iii) a coating film-forming resin having an acid value [preferably styrene-(meth)acrylic acid-based coating film-forming resin]. The components (ii) is preferably contained as pigmentcoated colored resin particles prepared by coating with the component (iii), and it is preferable that the component (ii) is a pigment having anionic substituents on the surface of the pigment or in the chemical structure. |
