PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair tonic having hair growth period extension effect, namely, capable of maintaining and extending the hair growth period in the hair cycle through promoting hair growth by including a sugar glyceride as active ingredient. SOLUTION: This hair tonic is obtained by including pref. 0.01-10.0 wt.% of a sugar glyceride pref. of the formula (R1 is a sugar residue; R2 and R3 are each H or a saturated fatty acid residue or the like) as active ingredient; wherein the sugar is pref. galactose, glucose or fructose. The formulation of this hair tonic is e.g. a liquid, milky lotion, ointment, being in the form of tonic, hair cream moose, shampoo, etc. Furthermore, this hair tonic may be formulated with a surfactant (e.g. higher saturated fatty acid), moisturizer (e.g. glycerol), thickening agent (e.g. quince mucous matter), antiseptic (e.g. salicylic acid), vasodilator (e.g. nicotinamide), etc.
