PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new inexpensive carboxylic acid metal complex having high gas adsorption ability, capable of storing a gas such as methane, etc. SOLUTION: This compound comprises one or more compounds selected from carboxylic acid of formula I [R is a H, a (halogenated) alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkoxy, a (substituted) aryl, a (substituted) aralkyl or a (substituted) heterocyclic group] such as t-butylbenzoic acid amide, etc., one or more bivalent metals selected from copper, chromium, molybdenum, rhodium, palladium and tungsten and an organic ligand such as pyrazine, etc., capable of being subjected to bidentate coordination to the metal and has a three-dimensional channel structure such as a compound of formula II. The carboxylic acid metal complex is obtained by dissolving one or more compounds selected from the carboxylic acids of formula I and one or more metal salts selected from a copper salt a chromium salt, etc., in an organic solvent mixing and then reacting the metal with an organic ligand capable of being subjected to bidentate coordination.
